I have been listening to this song over and over. It's words so perfectly describe where I want to be in my thinking this year.

I want to be more aware of the needs of those around me, to see people as God see them and to be ready and willing to help when so lead to do so. I am putting the lyrics below to remind us all to have God's heart toward the people around us. It all goes with God's most important command to us - Love God - Love People.

Look down from a broken sky
Traced out by the city lights
My world from a mile high
Best seat in the house tonight
Touch down on the cold black top
Hold on for the sudden stop
Breathe in the familiar shock
Of confusion and chaos
Are those people going somewhere?
Why have I never cared?

Give me Your eyes for just one second
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me Your love for humanity
Give me Your arms for the broken-hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me Your heart for the once forgotten
Give me Your eyes so I can see

Step out on a busy street
See a girl and our eyes meet
Does her best to smile at me
To hide what's underneath
There's a man just to her right
Black suit and a bright red tie
Too ashamed to tell his wife
He's out of work, he's buying time
All those people going somewhere
Why have I never cared?

Give me Your eyes for just one second
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me Your love for humanity
Give me Your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me Your heart for the once forgotten
Give me Your eyes so I can see

I've been here a million times
A couple of million eyes
Just move and pass me by
I swear I never thought that I was wrong
Well, I want a second glance
So give me a second chance
To see the way You've seen the people all along

Give me Your eyes for just one second
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me Your love for humanity
Give me Your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me Your heart for the once forgotten
Give me Your eyes so I can see

Give me Your eyes for just one second
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me Your love for humanity
Give me Your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach?
Give me Your heart for the once forgotten
Give me Your eyes so I can see

"He felt felt great pity for the crowds that came, because their problems were so great and they didn't know where to go for help. They were like sheep without a shepherd. He said to His disciples, "The harvest is so great, but the workers are so few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest, ask Him to send out more workers for His fields" Matt. 9:36-38

Thank you Marmee for stopping by. It's so easy to be unaware of all that is going on around us as we go about our lives. This song reminds me to stop and look and be aware of those around me then to ask God to show me what He would have me to do. Maybe just a smile or a word of encouragement. I pray I will keep the words of this song in my heart and mind all year long.

Hi,
I'm visiting your blog from "Sweet Tea". Your blog is beautiful. I love this song and actually had it on my blog a couple of months ago. It is such a good reminder of how we really need to slow down and take care of each other and the least of these. Thank you fro reminding me!
